Meet Mariann Mapes
Mariann is the Marketing Director for The Runner’s Soul. A late bloomer to running, she ran her first 5K, the Annie Ryan in 2008 to train for a sprint triathlon. Feeling so good from that accomplishment, she decided to run as many 5K races as possible. Mariann realized that running a 5k but not training in between was not the way to stay healthy and injury free. So instead of just setting out on a running regime, she set her sights on a 10K race, after completing a training program at The Runner’s Soul, she ran her first 10K in April 2009. So pumped from that experience and having done most of the training that the 1/2 Marathon group did, she continued training and ran the Inaugural Chicago Rock N Roll 1/2 in August 2009. Down 22 pounds and feeling like a rock star (no pun intended), Mariann trained through the winter to run the Disney Princess Half in January 2010. Mariann states that “if I can run and call myself a runner, anyone can run!” Mariann’s weakness is she is a recreational runner unless she has a race to train for; and by recreational, she means, “oh, I was supposed to run today, good thing I didn’t eat that candy bar”. Mariann loves working at The Runner’s Soul. She gets to meet and work with so many dynamic people that are all on the same journey, finding and meeting their goals. Remember, “r
un your own race”!
